SMALL TEAM: MANY HATS
With only 3 members on our team and 4 short months to make a game, we all had to pull double duty. I had never tackled pixel art before although it had always peaked my curiosity, much less any animation experience. But I knew that I was going to have to figure it out. I watched numerous tutorials on Aesprite and GameMaker to create the concept art for Barry the Racoon and created the overall color pallet for our park environment. I made sure when making all the park assets that all the colors were in harmony and that it felt like walking around a closed park at night.
My work on the project!
-Created concept art for Barry the Racoon
-Created color pallets for characters and environments
-Created main menu art
-Created all static environment assets
-Created Tile Sheets for easy implementation into GameMaker
-Created all animations for Barry (Walking & Celebration)

NEW SKILLS: NEW PERSPECTIVE
There were only 3 of us on the dev team and so production came down to just good communication. The creation pipeline was easy to facilitate because there was one person doing one job for the most part. So making sure that the team was getting constant updates helped the team flow like a French kitchen, with everyone aware of their time and the flow of the others on the team.
I had the opportunity as well to dip my toes into disciplines that I had never touched before. We needed sound effects and I knew my way around garage band and so I got the chance to make some of the short chimes in the game. Being able to work within those other disciplines gave me such an appreciation and understanding of them in the development timeline.
